Have you ever had someone to inform you, “It’s not what you say, but how you say it that is important.” I realize attitude is essential, but the devil can flash those pearly whites all day long and still lie to you. Remember, Eve believed Satan’s lies in the Garden (Genesis 3:1-5). How harmful was that?
According to Paul, it is possible and best to speak with the right attitude while producing information that is correct.
“Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ” (Ephesians 4:15).
“Therefore encourage each other with these words” (1 Thessalonians 4:18).
“Let no evil talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for edifying, as fits the occasion, that it may impart grace to those who hear. . . .Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, with all malice” (Ephesians 4:29-32).
“Do not speak evil against one another, brethren. He that speaks evil against a brother or judges his brother, speaks evil against the law and judges the law. But if you judge the law, you are not a doer of the law but a judge. There is one lawgiver and judge, he who is able to save and to destroy. But who are you that you judge your neighbor?” (James 4:11-12).
